Curtin University has unveiled its revitalised Dome and Stadium Precinct, creating a vibrant campus destination delivered with Proven Project Management.
Curtin University has officially completed the redevelopment of its iconic Dome Project, reinvigorating one of the most recognisable landmarks on campus as a magical experience for students, staff, visitors and the wider community.
Curtin University engaged Proven Project Management to provide Project Management and Superintendent services, which required Proven to support the project from early planning and project definition through to construction and handover. Proven worked closely with consultants and contractors to guide the project through each stage of delivery, under the guidance of Curtin’s Properties, Facilities and Development team.
The revitalised Curtin Dome and adjacent Stadium entry, created a more connected, accessible and welcoming environment to support events, social interaction and everyday campus life.
Designed in the 1970s, the Curtin Dome was originally the University’s gymnasium and has been carefully reimagined as a flexible open-air pavilion while retaining its distinctive architectural identity. The redevelopment also includes upgraded northern and southern Stadium entries, enhanced landscaping, improved accessibility, and activated public spaces that strengthen connectivity.
The Curtin Dome was reimagined as a new cultural node that celebrates Curtin University’s diversity, innovation and sense of place. The redevelopment acknowledges the cultural significance of the site, located where the Whadjuk Noongar Songlines ‘Kujal Kela’ (Twin Dolphin) and ‘Djiridji’ (Zamia) intersect. Integrated artwork and design elements recognise this connection to Country and contribute to a meaningful and inclusive campus experience.
Delivered within a live university environment, the redevelopment required careful project coordination and logistical management to minimise disruption to campus activities while maintaining programme certainty throughout construction.
The completed Curtin Dome Project represents more than a physical transformation. It protected iconic architecture whilst delivering a legacy for future generations by creating a gorgeous place for community and student connection that also celebrates local indigenous culture.
