Building 701 was constructed in 1903 and building 702 (WASM Museum) was constructed in 1907 and are both listed on the Heritage Council’s Municipal Inventory as these are regarded to have a high level of significance to the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

Proven worked with the university early in the project to recommend and engage a specialist contractor to undertake a full investigation of the extent of remediation works required, and have since tendered for and appointed a contractor to undertake a full re-pointing and damp-proofing scope to restore both the structural integrity and charm to the 120 year old buildings.

Managing a project in a remote area brings its own unique set of risks, and a project manager with in-depth understanding of resourcing and logistics challenges as well as regional cost indices and the further affect of COVID-19 becomes vital to project success. Having delivered the Curtin Rural Medical School in 2021, and working on the building remediation in 2022, the Proven team has invaluable experience in strategising to mitigate these risks and is well placed to deliver success across regional WA into the future.
