Proven Project Management was engaged to deliver a new medical training facility for Curtin University in Kalgoorlie, as part of the national Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) program.
Proven Project Management was engaged as Project Manager and Superintendent on behalf of Curtin University. We were instrumental in managing a difficult procurement process effected by regional cost indices and logistical challenges brought about by COVID 19 and Kalgoorlie’s remote location. The project was completed in 2021.
This initiative by The Department of Health is to improve recruitment and retention of health professionals in rural and remote Australia. There are 21 universities currently participating in the program across Australia. Proven Project Management assisted Curtin University in meeting its reporting obligations as part of the funding provision by government.
The Curtin Rural Medical School supports rural clinical training for medical students, creating a strategic opportunity to build a multi-disciplinary clinical school in Kalgoorlie, leveraging Curtin’s existing regional presence.
The project objectives are:
Two types of laboratories are provided for clinical skills development using simulated clinical activity environments. The Simulation laboratories provide an immersive learning experiences for healthcare practitioners and students, while the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) Rooms test clinical skill performance and competence in skills in a hands-on, real-world learning environment.
