Proven provided project management to the delivery of a new HVAC system to two Curtin University Guild tenancies, from project concept and engineering investigation through to BMS interfacing and project close.
The project scope involved the recommendation and provision of a functional DX air conditioning system, split between two parts of one retail building, to improve customer satisfaction and address the heat load within the retail tenancies, while delivering this all within a strict budget and engaging a reliable contractor that could work with a difficult critical delivery window. To meet this window, specification changes were facilitated late in the design, just prior to tender to avoid intolerable lead times for infrastructure, while ensuring quality was maintained.
The project faced a major challenge of mitigating disruption to trade for the retail services that operated in the building, and Proven were able to negotiate an expedited construction programme with its lead mechanical contractor Centigrade to deliver the new system including ceiling removal and replacement, roof truss carpentry, ducting, unit installation including cranage, roof remediation, and removal of redundant infrastructure and services, all completed on schedule and within budget. The project saw Proven working closely with both internal and external stakeholders to navigate scheduling availability, decanting of delicate IT equipment and retail stock, and shared worksite coordination with a contractor undertaking a fit-out project on one of the tenancies.
