Proven celebrates International Project Management Day with the successful delivery of Avolta Duty Free at Perth Airport

On International Project Management Day, Proven celebrates the teamwork behind Avolta’s new Duty Free at Perth Airport, a complex, multi-stage fit-out delivered with precision.

This International Project Management Day, Proven Project Management recognises the dedication of project managers and their teams, celebrating the skill, collaboration, and leadership that turn complex projects into success stories.

A fitting example is the completion of the Avolta Duty Free fit-out at Perth Airport, delivered over the past 12 months by Project Director Gavin Tucker and Project Managers Mark Touhey and Bethany Garside.

Delivering precision in motion

Proven’s partnership with global travel retailer Avolta continues to strengthen, following several successful retail upgrades at Perth Airport since 2019.

The latest project involved a complex, multi-stage fit out within a live terminal environment, an achievement made possible through detailed planning, teamwork, and clear communication.

“Projects like this demand a hands-on approach and a high level of coordination to navigate challenges on site,” said Gavin Tucker. “It takes the entire project team working together through every stage, and that collaboration was evident from start to finish.”

Through weekly coordination meetings, forward planning, and the scheduling of disruptive works outside operational hours, Proven ensured smooth delivery with minimal impact on airport operations.

Collaborative, structured, and solutions-driven

For Mark Touhey and Bethany Garside, the success of the project came down to Proven’s structured yet flexible approach.

“Our delivery relied on communication and adaptability,” they said. “We had four distinct stages, each with tight milestones, and it was collaboration across all parties that made those deadlines achievable.”

The team also highlighted lessons learned around early stakeholder engagement and managing change in live environments, experience that continues to strengthen Proven’s delivery methods.

A proven decade of delivery

While the Avolta fit-out forms part of Perth Airport’s broader retail transformation, it also arrives as Proven marks its 10-year anniversary.

“The successful delivery of projects like Avolta Duty Free reflects how far we’ve come as a business,” said Gavin. “We’ve grown to a team of 22 project managers and continue to expand across education, retail, industrial, and commercial sectors.”

As Proven celebrates both International Project Management Day and a decade of growth, the message is clear, behind every project is a dedicated team, and behind every success is collaboration, precision, and trust.
