Rod has over 31 years’ experience in property, he has managed a growing business and led large scale projects with a focus on urban growth and project management in Perth and regional Western Australia.
Rod is an experienced town planner and development manager. He has overseen developments ranging from neighbourhood shopping centre project coordination to multi-stage master-planned communities. Rod has handled all areas of strategic and statutory town planning and urban design.
He has a passion for and has worked on significant land development projects with some of the development industry’s leading companies. Rod’s work often involves the management of large multi-disciplinary teams on complex profile projects where leadership and strategic client guidance is required. He has a strong understanding of the commercial realities in delivering projects and he works to achieve practical outcomes that leave a lasting liveable community legacy.
Relevant Experience
- North Ellenbrook West – District Structure planning for the new community of some 4,500 dwellings and estimated population of 13,500 people.
- The Peninsula, Burswood – Burswood Lakes Structure Plan review to reflect the evolution of Perth and role of the Burswood while facilitating ongoing development at ‘The Peninsula’ by Mirvac.
- Bullsbrook South – strategic rezoning, concept design and advisory role to assist the progression of some 300 ha of urban residential expansion to provide an estimated 3000 lots.
- Kinmore Green, Darch – design, structure plan and subdivision approvals over former quarry land to facilitate a new estate within the established Darch community.
- Dunsborough Woolworths Centre – coordination and redevelopment applications in the Dunsborough Town Centre to deliver new retail, supermarket and town access improvements.
- Wungong Urban Water Master Plan DCP Review – Independent Review of the Development Contribution Plan (DCP) to assist in the update of the DCP and normalisation process.
- Taylor Private Estate, Caversham – A master planned community of 800 plus homesites, community facilities, shopping centre and planned apartments.
- Boronia Gardens Lifestyle Village – Rezoning, approvals, construction management & leasing.
- Caversham Village Shopping Centre – Development approval, construction management, leasing (Coles & specialty stores) and sale coordination – $27M.
- ‘The Playground’ – Coolbellup School Sites Urban Renewal – Consulted to Lend Lease Communities (LLC) to develop a successful bid for this LandCorp Partnering project. The project won LLC their first project in Western Australia.
- ‘Pretty Pool’’, Port Hedland – Structure planning, design and coordination for coastal residential land estate. Won two WA Coastal Planning Excellence Awards for handling of and responsiveness to nearby endangered Flatback Turtle nesting environs.
- Roselea Estate, Stirling – masterplan design, structure plan, subdivision and development design guidelines. The project was design to integrate a regional drainage facility into a permanent water body at the heart of open space, providing a more liveable community with genuine amenity.
- Exmouth Marina Village, Exmouth – Worked with two client groups to deliver the Exmouth canal estate and the adjoining mixed-use precinct to reflect canal design, flood mitigation and cyclone construction influences.
